Blaenafon Industrial Landscape — World Heritage Site

Big Pit stands on the edge of Blaenafon, a town that played a vital part in the Industrial Revolution. This revolution transformed the landscape, culture and society of Wales, the UK and the world. Awarding World Heritage Status to the town and landscape marked the wider impact of Blaenafon's unique industrial heritage.

Opening times

Open daily 9.30 am–5 pm. Underground tours run frequently 10am–3.30 pm. Please note, groups of 20 or over should be booked in advance, thank you.
Now also open December and January. Please call for winter opening times.
